This course covers the fundamental principles of procuring products and services in Facilities Management and managing FM contracts.

Courses are held in Leeds and Manchester.
You’ll start with the processes and stages of the procurement of goods and services within FM, before looking at the tendering and bid process, how to select contracts and specifications and any relevant legislation.
You’ll then take a closer look at the different types of contracts available to the Facilities Manager and the advantages and disadvantages of each. You’ll learn how to select the most appropriate procurement option for each contract type.
You’ll consider the importance of well written specifications and then look at how standard terms and conditions are used in FM.
Finally, you’ll learn how to evaluate procurement costs and what factors to consider when making a buying decision.
This course is aimed at people already managing day-to-day Facilities Management operations, who
have either partial or total involvement in the procurement of FM-related goods and services.
If you need to know more about how to run a procurement exercise, how to select appropriate contracts and terms & conditions or how to draw up an effective specification, this course is for you.
It’s also ideal for those who are studying for their IWFM Level 4 qualifications, perhaps by distance learning, who would like some face-to-face tuition to support their studies.
Although this course is open for anyone to attend and is not assessed, the content has been developed in line with the IWFM Level 4 unit FM4.21 – Understanding procurement and contract management in facilities management.
This makes it ideal for IWFM qualification learners who are looking to support their studies with face-to-face tuition.
For those who are not currently studying for a qualification, there is the option to undertake the assessment for the FM4.21 unit. This will then count towards a qualification if you choose to undertake one in the future.
