In this course, you’ll learn the fundamental principles required to manage staff within your organisation.

Courses are held in Leeds and Manchester.
You’ll learn about the importance of planning and allocating workloads, and identifying whether additional staff are needed in order to deliver effective services.
You’ll learn about the recruitment cycle and the processes you should follow to recruit staff with the necessary skills to do the job.
You’ll then investigate ways to keep hold of those staff, but also what to do if and when they leave the organisation.
You’ll cover appraisals and performance management, then consider how to communicate effectively with your staff.
You’ll also learn a little bit about managing workplace stress.
Finally, you’ll be introduced to relevant legislation and learn how to deal with staff grievances and disciplinaries.
This course is aimed at people already managing day-to-day Facilities Management operations, who are currently managing a team or who are hoping to step into a people management role.
Whether you’re responsible for managing one person or a team of people, or if you’re planning to hire your first member of staff, this course is for you.
It’s also ideal for those who are studying for their IWFM Level 4 qualifications, perhaps by distance learning, who would like some face-to-face tuition to support their studies.
Although this course is open for anyone to attend and is not assessed, the content has been developed in line with the IWFM Level 4 unit FM4.03 – People Management in Facilities Management.
This makes it ideal for IWFM qualification learners who are looking to support their studies with face-to-face tuition.
For those who are not currently studying for a qualification, there is the option to undertake the assessment for the FM4.03 unit. This will then count towards a qualification if you choose to undertake one in the future.
